Annapolis Valley Youth Forum Makes its Mark on Students
March 31, 2008

One-hundred Annapolis Valley students participated in a day-long session discussing issues of concern to youth. The Valley session, the first of eight youth meetings to be held across the province, was a successful event. Here’s what the youth had to say about their day:

-85% of students felt the day made an impact on them
-96% felt overall the day was a great experience

"I think that this should be a yearly event to give youth more chances to voice their opinion and learn a lot about a lot of things. I would LOVE to do this next year too."

"Make this throughout the province."

"Learned a lot today that I would not have learned at school."

"I thought it was great how the former Premiers greeted us students. I would like to see this around the province next year."

"I think that the day should have been longer."

"It was a lot better than I though it would be, it let people feel comfortable and speak their minds."

"I really enjoyed the day here and I lost track of time since I was so involved in the Hot Topics discussions."

"It opened my mind."

"Definitely showed the importance of voting"

"Good to express opinions. Good to meet new people."

"Let’s have D251!"

Overall the feedback provided clearly demonstrated that our youth felt an overwhelming need for more activities of this nature, to get more information out there to kids and to empower them to make a difference in their communities.
