Student Leadership Conference Planned for October 2008
On October, 17 – 19, 2008 EduNova will hold a conference for local and international students with a focus on “active citizenship”. The conference will be offered to students studying in Nova Scotia high schools, and will showcase Nova Scotia’s rich democratic traditions.
 
In keeping with previous years, EduNova will hold a fall conference for up to 80 students studying in their grade 11 or grade 12 year of high school. The conference will bring together both Nova Scotian students and international students selected by their schools and Boards for their leadership potential.

This year’s leadership theme will be “Democracy 250: International Student Leadership Conference in Support of Active Citizenship”. The program will address key components of Canadian democracy including the evolution of democracy in Nova Scotia, freedom of the press, judiciary, education system and government. Students attending the conference will be engaged in a highly interactive program and encouraged to offer their own unique experiences and perspectives over the course of the 2-day event.

The Conference is sponsored by the EduNova members and the D250 program. The University of King’s College is organizing the conference on behalf of the EduNova membership. The conference will be held at the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre.
